Ports of Call |
| Cartegena, Columbia: This modern and bustling city, seaport and commercial center still boasts much of its original Spanish colonial architecture. Explore this beautiful and historic city's walled Old Town. Its fortress walls, quaint, narrow streets and balconied houses are all vivid reminders of its former colonialists. The city's numerous monasteries, plazas and noble mansions are significant links to this region's grand past. Puntarenas, Costa Rica: Uniquely situated between two oceans and two continents, Costa Rica is a country without equal. Its tropical landscape of rain forests, pasturelands, lush coffee plantations and white sand coastlines is set against a backdrop of majestic mountains rising as high as 13,000 feet which is why many consider it the Switzerland of Central America. Huatulco, Mexico: This small beach and fishing village is perfectly situated at the foothills of the Sierra Madre and the Pacific coastline, providing over 20 miles of unspoiled beaches to explore. For an unforgettable adventure, go in search of the secret coves and hidden lagoons within its nine bays. These nine bays bordered by 36 golden-sand beaches form the beautiful Las Bahias de Huatulco in the state of Oaxaca. Huatulco is a tropical gem with crystalline waters, coral reefs and uncrowded beaches. Inland, the rugged coast range is thickly carpeted with lush rain forests and verdant coffee plantations. Huatulco, still relatively young in its tourism trade, has a less developed feel from other destinations on the Mexican Riviera due to large areas of Huatulco being designated part of an ecological reserve. Acapulco, Mexico: One of Mexico's top resorts and a favorite haunt of jet-setters and stars, Acapulco is an international destination alive with gorgeous beaches and non-stop glamour. Discover the city's many local bistros with their cosmopolitan menus and delightful mariachi bands. And if you like to shop, treasures of gold, silver, semiprecious stones and diamond-cut jewelry abound at the many handicrafts markets and elegant boutiques. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico: Situated at the very tip of the world's longest peninsula, Cabo San Lucas calmly watches the cool Pacific Ocean merge with the Sea of Cortez. Once you experience its crystal-clear waters and whitesand beaches, you'll understand why this once-sleepy Baja cannery village transformed into a popular international resort. |
